Self built house domestic water solution

How to use water for daily living in self built houses far away from downtown areas has become a difficult problem in our daily lives. This article provides professional solutions for friends who are preparing to build their own houses for your reference.

The source of water for self built houses generally comes from groundwater, which requires digging deep wells in advance to provide a water source. The water level in different regions also varies in depth. Assuming that a water source can be reached within 30 meters, we need to drill at least 35 meters of wells. And groundwater is definitely deeper and has cleaner water quality. As the water level drops and decreases, it is recommended to have a depth of at least 50m.

Newly drilled wells usually contain impurities such as sediment, which cannot be consumed. We need to inject the water pump into the deep well and extract it for about 20 days until it becomes clear water and the pH value is measured to meet the standard before it can be consumed.

After the water from the well is discharged, it is necessary to store the water source. It is generally recommended to use two commonly used solutions for automatic water supply. One is a pressure tank, and the other is a water storage tank.

      The first type: pressure tank

The deep well pump directly supplies water to the pressure tank, and after the pressure tank stores pressure, it can directly supply us with domestic water. If you want to achieve automation, the inlet of the pressure tank is usually equipped with a check valve (to prevent water backflow), and there is an opening above the pressure tank for installing an electric contact pressure gauge or pressure switch to control the start/stop of the water pump.

Advantages of pressure tank (tower free water supply method):

      1. Save engineering, construction, and additional water storage costs

      2. Small footprint

      3. Easy installation

Disadvantages of pressure tank (tower less water supply method):

1.If the pressure tank is too small, the water pump will start rapidly and stop frequently, which can easily cause damage to the water pump.

      2. Using pressure control has poor reliability.

      3. Gas filling is prone to failure, resulting in non-stop operation, frequent water replenishment, and lack of pressure.

      4. High power water pumps often start directly, causing significant impact on the pump and pipeline network, resulting in increased maintenance costs. If it is a frequency converter or soft start, there is no problem.

Second type: Water tower supply

The start and stop of the water pump can be controlled by a liquid level float/liquid level sensor. When the water level is low, the water pump starts. When the water level is high, the water pump stops.

Generally, water storage tanks are installed on the roof, so when constructing a house, sufficient space should be prepared in advance to place the water tank. An automatic pump should also be installed at the outlet of the water tank for secondary pressurization. Because the water tank itself has no pressure, the natural pressure of the water tank on the roof is not high, so a secondary booster pump needs to be added.

Advantages of water storage tank:

      1. Avoid frequent starting of deep well pumps

      2. Convenient daily maintenance.

      3. Stable water intake

      4. Sustainable water supply

      5. Sustainable use of water even after running out of electricity

Disadvantages of water storage tanks:

      1. Large footprint

      2. If the liquid level switch malfunctions, it is easy for water to flood the mountains

      3. Regular cleaning of sedimentary sand and gravel is required

The above is the recommended plan for self built water intake

Conclusion:

A: Why wasn't constant pressure frequency conversion mentioned to control deep well pumps?

B: This can easily cause damage to the deep well pump, and the power consumption is not low because it cannot guarantee the amount of water you use each time. You may use a little bit, but the pump needs to run at low speed to maintain stable pressure. Long term use of the pump will cause it to break down.
