GRUNDFOS SPK Immersible Centrifugal Pumps
1. Product Positioning and Applications
- Designed for the Machine Tool Industry: Suitable for pumping cooling lubricants, condensate transfer, and similar applications; ideal for processes such as boring, milling, grinding, and EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining).
- Filtration System Compatibility: Capable of handling liquids containing chips, fibers, and abrasive particles; suitable for integration with machine tool filtration systems.
2. Key Features
- Modular Design:
Immersion depth is adjustable via extension chambers to suit various tank depths (standard immersion depth range: 140–1005 mm).
Available in various sizes and stage counts to meet specific flow, pressure, and installation length requirements. - High Efficiency and Energy Saving:
Compliant with EU ErP directives; energy efficiency class IE3; variable frequency drive (VFD) support available on select models (MTRE series), offering energy savings of over 30%. - Corrosion and Wear Resistance:
Material Options:
Standard Version (Type A): Wetted parts made of cast iron and stainless steel (EN 1.4301/AISI 304).
Stainless Steel Version (Type I): All wetted parts made of stainless steel (EN 1.4408/AISI 316LN) for superior corrosion resistance.
Impeller Design: Semi-open impellers (MTA series) allow for the passage of particles up to 10 mm in size, ensuring high clog resistance.
3. Technical Specifications
- Flow and Head Ranges:
SPK 1: 0.2–1.5 m³/h (50 Hz); max. head 8.6 bar.
SPK 4: 2.0–6.0 m³/h (60 Hz); max. head 7.5 bar. - Temperature Adaptability:
Standard version: -10°C to +90°C.
High-temperature version (120°C solution): Optional special shaft seals and - cooling designs available. Shaft Seal Options:
Standard AUUV shaft seal (tungsten carbide/FKM); optional AQQV (silicon carbide/FKM) available for higher pressures or corrosive liquids.
4. Installation and Maintenance Advantages
- Vertical/Horizontal Installation: SPK pumps support both mounting orientations; horizontal installation requires sealing the drain hole and using an O-ring nut.
- Low-Maintenance Design:
Built-in priming screw prevents dry running (liquid level must be at least 25mm above the bottom of the strainer).
Removable inlet strainer (2–4mm mesh size) for easy cleaning.
5. Specialized Application Extensions
- High-Pressure Version: MTRE HS series pumps deliver pressures up to 38 bar, suitable for high-pressure applications such as deep-hole machining.
- Customization Options:
Optional accessories include extended immersion depths, explosion-proof motors (ATEX), anti-condensation heaters, etc.
6. Certification and Compliance
- Certified to ISO 9906:2012 Grade 3B; performance curve tolerances comply with international standards.
- ATEX-certified versions available for use in flammable environments.
