The Grundfos MTS K series is a screw-type immersion centrifugal pump (cutting oil pump) specifically designed for metal machining centers.It features a precision-hardened tool steel spindle (material 1.2379) and a silicon carbide mechanical seal,making it suitable for emulsions (2–20% oil content),cutting oils,and inorganic solutions.It offers a pressure range of 10–100 bar and a maximum flow rate of 113 l/min (60 Hz).The pump supports either immersion (T-type) or dry (D/H-type) installation

The MTS K-type screw pump is specifically designed for the delivery of cutting oil and coolant, featuring the following core functional characteristics:

1. High-Efficiency Hydraulic Design

  • Precision Screw Spindle: Manufactured from tool steel (1.2379), specially hardened and precision machined to ensure stable flow output under high-pressure conditions (pressure range 10-100 bar). 
  • Labyrinth control valve: effectively reduces pressure and energy loss, and is suitable for media of different viscosities (1-20 mm²/s).

2. Modular and Flexible Configuration

  • Multiple spindle helix angle options: Available in specifications such as R34/R38/R48/R50/R60/R64/R76, precisely matching flow rate (0-113 l/min) and pressure requirements. 
  • Two installation methods:
  • Immersion type (T-type): Directly installed on top of the fuel tank, saving space, with a maximum immersion depth of 129 mm (MTS 32).
  • Dry type (D type/H type): Connected via SAE flange or thread, supporting horizontal or vertical installation.

3. Durability and Long Service Life

  • Wear-resistant Material: The rotor housing is made of EN GJL-250 cast iron, and the surface of the spindle bore has undergone special hardening treatment. 
    The mechanical seal is made of silicon carbide (SiC/SiC) material and is suitable for abrasive media (concentration ≤20 ppm). 
  • External main bearing design: reduces internal wear and extends maintenance intervals.

4. Intelligent Control and Energy Efficiency

  • Variable Frequency Motor Options: MG motors support IE3 energy efficiency standards (50 Hz) or IE2/IE3 (60 Hz), achieving energy savings of up to 30%. 
  • Overload protection: Requires an external safety valve or control system for pressure relief (such as an H-type manual valve or an E-type electronic proportional valve).

5. Application Suitability

  • Media Compatibility: Suitable for emulsions (2–20% oil content), cutting oils (containing EP additives), and inorganic solutions; maximum operating temperature of 80°C.
  • Cleanliness Requirements: Filtration to ISO 4406 standards is recommended (e.g., particles ≤15 μm at oil pressures ≤100 bar).

6. Low Noise and Compact Design

  • Sound Pressure Level ≤78 dB(A): Optimized fluid flow paths result in lower noise levels compared to similar lobe pumps.
  • Compact Dimensions: For example, the dry-installed MTS 25 model has a length of only 176 mm and weighs between 38 and 110 kg (depending on the specific model).
