Product Overview:
The quench system of an ethylene plant directly links the cracking and compression units; it primarily comprises the quench oil system, quench water system, and dilution steam generation system. Common issues within these systems—such as high quench oil viscosity, low temperatures at the bottom of the gasoline fractionator, frequent emulsification of quench water, and unstable operation of the dilution steam generation system—can hinder the ethylene plant's ability to maintain full-load, long-cycle production.
The quench oil pump transfers cracked fuel oil from the quench oil tower to the cracking furnace's oil-injection quench exchanger. There, it mixes directly with cracked gas from the waste heat boiler, rapidly cooling the gas to minimize secondary polymerization. The quench water pump extracts separated quench water from the quench water tower and delivers it to various heat exchangers for heat recovery and cooling, serving as the driving force for the quench water circulation loop.
As critical components of the ethylene plant's quench system, the performance and reliability of quench oil pumps and quench water pumps are vital to the overall operation of the plant.
